Accessibility Tracker Tutorial: Complete Guide

Learn how to use Accessibility Tracker to manage your accessibility projects, upload audit reports, track issues, and collaborate with your team.

Getting Started

1Sign In or Create Account

Navigate to AccessibilityTracker.com
Click Sign In on AccessibilityTracker.com
If you don't have an account, you can get started with a free plan
Log into your existing account (if you have one)

2Dashboard Overview

After logging in, you'll arrive at your dashboard which contains:

  • Overview of all your projects
  • Quick card view of existing projects
  • Option to create new projects

Creating Your First Project

3Create a New Project

Click New Project from your dashboard

A popup window will appear with the following fields:

Project Title: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Web Accessibility")
Description: Add details about your goals (e.g., "Make our website WCAG 2.1 AA conformant")
Platform Type: Select appropriate option:
  • • Website/Web Application (default)
  • • iOS App
  • • Other platform types as needed
Project URL: Enter your website URL (e.g., "accessible.org")
Click Create Project

4Access Your New Project

Scroll down to Your Projects section
Find your newly created project card
Click View Details under the project card

Setting Up Your Audit Data

5Obtain Sample Audit Report (If Needed)

If you don't have an existing audit report:

  • Search Google for: "accessible.org sample accessibility audit report"
  • Visit the audit report page
  • Download the Sample Accessibility Audit Report spreadsheet
  • This provides sample data to practice with

6Upload Your Audit Report

In your project details page, click the upload icon in the center
Select your Excel spreadsheet audit report
The system will attempt to automatically map your columns

7Map Your Data Columns

Required Fields (must be mapped correctly):

  • Issue: Description of the accessibility problem
  • WCAG: Success criterion reference
  • Page URL: Location where issue was found

Column Mapping Process:

  • If headers aren't automatically recognized, manually map them
  • Ensure column headers are in the first row of your spreadsheet
  • Delete any rows above the headers if present
  • Map additional optional fields as needed

Important Notes:

  • • Your spreadsheet must have headers: "Issue", "WCAG", and "URL"
  • • If column names don't match exactly, use the mapping interface to connect them

8Review Data Preview

Check the Data Preview section to verify your data looks correct
Ensure all required fields are properly mapped
Review the issue mapping status

9Process and Save Data

Click Process Data to extract audit report information

Review the visualization charts:

  • • Issues by locations
  • • Issues by environment
  • • Issues by WCAG Success Criterion
  • • Issues by users affected
Click Save Issues to Project at the top of the page

Plan Limits:

Be aware of issue limits based on your plan:

  • Free Plan: 100 issues
  • Small Business Plan: 250 issues
  • Higher plans: Have increased limits

Managing Your Accessibility Issues

10View Analytics Dashboard

After uploading data, you'll see:

  • Total Issues: Complete count from audit
  • Issues Fixed: Progress tracking
  • High Risk Issues: Priority items
  • High Impact Issues: Most significant problems
  • Status Distribution: Circle graph showing progress
  • Priority Distribution: Custom priority visualization (if set)

11Access Issues Management

Click Accessibility Issues link at the bottom of analytics page
This opens your detailed issues management interface

The issues table displays:

Issue Number: Sequential identifier
Location: Where the issue occurs (may show "unknown" if not mapped)
Issue: Description of the accessibility problem
WCAG Success Criterion: Relevant standard reference
Team Member: Assignment capability
Status: Current progress state
Priority: Importance level
User Impact: Weighted score based on user effect
Risk Factor: Legal/compliance risk level
Actions: View or delete options

  • Priority Levels: High, Medium, Low

Working with Individual Issues

14View Issue Details

Click View action button for any issue

This opens the complete issue information including:

Location Information: Specific page details
Page URL: Direct link to problem area
Environment: Testing context
Issue Description: Detailed explanation
Applicable Code: Relevant code snippets
Auditor's Recommendation: Suggested fixes
Users Affected: Specific disability groups impacted
Notes: Additional audit comments
Timeline: Creation and update dates
Assignment: Team member responsibility
Priority and Status: Current workflow state

15Edit Issue Information

Click Edit Issue to modify any details
Useful for internal audits or updating recommendations
Can delete issues if no longer relevant

Use the notes section to add progress updates

Update issue progress through these status options:

Navigate to Projects from main navigation
Find your project and click View Details
Switch from Analytics to Team Members in the Project Management card
Click Add Team Member

Click Save Changes
